Dubai is fast-tracking its vision to become the world’s best city to live in, guided by the Dubai 2040 Urban Master Plan. At the 33rd Supreme Committee for Urban Planning meeting, chaired by His Excellency Mattar Al Tayer, major projects and strategies were reviewed to enhance quality of life, economic growth, and sustainability.
Under the leadership of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Dubai is advancing initiatives such as:
Establishing five key urban centers to boost economic diversification.
Implementing the ‘20-Minute City’ concept for easy access to essential services.
Reducing development approval times by 60%, expediting projects worth AED 55 billion.
Allocating 450 million sq. ft. of land for citizen housing.

Dubai is transforming urban mobility with the Metro Blue Line expansion—30 km with 14 stations—to serve one million residents by 2040. Additionally, the ‘Dubai Walk’ master plan will introduce 6,500 km of pedestrian pathways, including the Al Ras Loop (heritage-inspired) and Future Loop (modern urban route).
Sustainability remains a priority, with the ‘Therme Dubai’ project set to become the world’s longest interactive resort, attracting 1.7 million visitors annually. Meanwhile, the Transit-Oriented Development (TOD) plan will optimize land use around metro stations, promoting eco-friendly transport.
Since 2021, Dubai has:
Planned 17,400 residential plots for citizens.
Enacted new urban planning laws to streamline policies.
Developed master plans for rural areas and public beaches.
Aimed for a 105% increase in green spaces, a 134% rise in tourism, and a 400% expansion of public beaches.
With these transformative projects, Dubai continues to redefine urban excellence, sustainability, and livability, ensuring a prosperous future for residents, businesses, and visitors alike.
