DUBAI, 23rd September 2024, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Ruler of Dubai, has greenlit a massive AED10 billion expansion for the Dubai Exhibition Centre (DEC) at Expo City. This move aims to position DEC as the region's largest indoor venue for global events.
Part of Dubai's 2040 Urban Master Plan, the expansion solidifies Expo City’s role as a global economic hub, driving international exhibitions and business growth. “We are creating a world-class platform to connect people, ideas, and opportunities,” Sheikh Mohammed stated.

HH Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum emphasized the project’s alignment with Dubai’s growth, adding that the expansion complements the development of Al Maktoum International Airport, reinforcing Dubai as a global hub for innovation and connectivity.

The expansion, set for full completion by 2031, will see DEC grow to 180,000 square meters of exhibition space, enabling Dubai to host over 600 major events annually by 2033.
