Sheikha Latifa bint Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairperson of Dubai Culture & Arts Authority, has launched the ambitious Design Sector Strategy 2033, aiming to position Dubai as a global leader in design excellence. The strategy will foster innovation, attract creative talent, and establish the emirate as a hub for designers and industry experts.
The announcement coincided with the 10th edition of Dubai Design Week, held under Sheikha Latifa’s patronage, showcasing Dubai’s growing design scene. The event, in partnership with Dubai Design District (d3) and Dubai Culture, highlights the city’s transformation into a global center for art, culture, and design.
Key goals of the strategy include boosting design education by 20%, supporting 500 local design businesses, and hosting over 100 global design events. It also aims to attract 4 million visitors to Dubai’s design exhibitions by 2033, while promoting innovation in sectors like fashion, architecture, and product design. Through these initiatives, Dubai aims to solidify its position as a leader in the global design industry.
