Transforming mortgage settlement into a seamless, paperless, same-day digital service.
The Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure, along with the Emirates Development Bank and the Ajman Department of Land and Real Estate Regulation, has started a totally digital mortgage release service for those in the housing program. This service does away with all physical visits and paperwork.
The Release of Property Mortgage After Settlement package turns the process of settling a loan into a single digital experience, making what used to be a long, complicated bureaucratic process more easier.
The package cuts the number of steps from five to one, the number of documents needed from six to none, the number of visits needed from five to none, and the time it takes to complete the service from seven working days to just one day.
Suhail Mohamed Al Mazrouei, Minister of Energy and Infrastructure, said, "The launch of this package is a big step forward in making government services better. It is a practical example of the wise leadership's vision to simplify procedures, get rid of red tape, and base services on innovation and digitalization, putting the customer at the center of the development process."
The package is based on a lot of cooperation between the government, including the Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure (via the Sheikh Zayed Housing Programme), the Emirates Development Bank, and other federal and local government groups.
Ajman has completed the first phase, and work is now being done to integrate the other emirates in the next phases. The system uses instant digital links for all transactions, instantly cancels direct debit after payment, and sends notifications to all parties electronically without any human involvement. This speeds up processing and makes it more accurate.
Al Mazrouei added, "With the help of our partners at the federal and local levels, we have completely redesigned the customer journey to create an integrated digital service that can be completed in one step, without the need for a visit or documents. This will make the housing system more efficient and improve people's quality of life."
The program fits with the declaration of 2025 as the Year of Community and 2026 as the Year of Family. Both of these events emphasize the importance of the Emirati family in national priorities, enhance quality of life, and improve housing stability as a key part of social cohesion.
"This package shows how well the UAE's government works together and how data and digital systems can help improve and speed up service delivery," Al Mazrouei added. "We will keep making our services more proactive and adaptable, and we will build an agile government ecosystem that supports the goals of the We the UAE 2031 vision and meets our society's hopes for a better, more sustainable future."
The package shows that the UAE government wants to provide customer-centered government services based on new technologies and digitalization. It also shows that the ministry is committed to building a housing system that is ready for the future, works better, is more flexible, and builds trust in smart government services.
